NexGen Scholar, Inc. ("NexGen Scholar," "we," "us") is a student-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This policy explains what information we collect through nexgenscholar.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
When you create an account we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your password.
When you apply, we collect your name and email address, details of your community service (dates, activities, hours, and organizations), the email addresses of the supervisors you list, and any photos you upload as proof of service.
When you donate, we collect your email address, the amount, the date, and whether the gift is one-time or monthly. Card and bank details are entered directly into Stripe, our payment processor, and never reach or are stored on our servers. Stripe shares limited details with us, such as the card brand and last four digits, so we can show them on your donation history.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It collects information such as the pages you visit, your browser and device type, and your approximate location, using cookies and similar technologies.
If you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only:
We will not publicly list your name as a donor or publish your application materials without your permission.
Google Analytics uses cookies to measure site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Firebase Authentication stores information in your browser to keep you signed in; blocking it will sign you out.
The Giving Hours Award is for high school students. Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account or submit an application. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. A parent or guardian of a student under 18 may contact us to review or delete that student's information.
We keep account information while your account is active. We keep award applications and decisions so that awards can be verified later, for example by college admissions offices. We keep donation records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing support@nexgenscholar.org. If you delete your account, we may still keep donation records we are legally required to retain. Monthly donors can cancel at any time from their profile.
We use encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls that limit who can see your information, and a PCI-compliant payment processor. No website can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong password and contact us if you think your account has been compromised.
Our site links to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies.
We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we will let account holders know.
