These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of nexgenscholar.org, operated by NexGen Scholar, Inc. ("NexGen Scholar," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Who can use the site

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use the site and apply for the Giving Hours Award.

Your account

Give accurate information when you sign up, keep your password private, and let us know right away if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.

The Giving Hours Award

• Everything you submit, including hours, activities, organizations, supervisor contacts, and proof photos, must be truthful, accurate, and your own.
• We may contact the supervisors and organizations you list to verify your service.
• NexGen Scholar decides whether an application meets the published guidelines, and its decision is final.
• We may reject an application, or revoke an award after it is issued, if any information turns out to be false or misleading.
• The award recognizes community service. It has no cash value and does not guarantee college admission or any other outcome.
• Award certificates are for your personal use. Do not alter a certificate or misrepresent the award you received.

Donations

Donations are covered by our Donation & Refund Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Access, or try to access, accounts, data, or parts of the site you are not authorized to use.
• Interfere with the site's operation or security, including by uploading malicious files or code.
• Impersonate another person or submit someone else's information as your own.
• Upload images or content that are inappropriate, that you do not have the right to share, or that are unrelated to your service.
• Use bots or automated tools to scrape the site or to submit applications, accounts, or payments.

Content you submit

You keep ownership of the information and photos you submit. You give NexGen Scholar permission to store, review, and use them to run the Giving Hours Award, including verifying your service. We will not publish your application materials without your permission.

Our content

The NexGen Scholar name, logo, certificates, and site content belong to NexGen Scholar, Inc. You may not copy or use them for other purposes without our written permission.

Ending your account

You may stop using the site at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to keep it accurate and running, but we do not promise that it will be error-free or always available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NexGen Scholar and its volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or the Giving Hours Award.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the effective date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
